Just outside of the village Masaya, in the middle of the volcano chain lays a giant sleeping volcano crater formed by an eruption 23 thousand years ago. Tropical rain eventually filled the lagoon and all around grew exotic greenery. The water here is not only considered the cleanest but also healing like. Rumor has it the volcanic minerals are great for your skin and hair. The lagoon is home to a few fish species that are not found anywhere else in this world. There is nothing close to ordinary about Apoyo.
I live for the early cloudy mornings to crawl into the hammock as the birds chirp and clouds slowly drift away to allow our sun to come out and play for the day. This time of day it is not too hot, nor too humid, I’m alone for a moment, swaying so gracefully in the wind and I’ve never felt so connected to this Earth.

a baby piña grew through the stems, and she’s pink!
If you’re ever in this area, Laguna de Apoyo is an absolute MUST. Even if you’re just in Nicaragua in general honestly. They offer a few hostels right on the lagoon. I usually go with Air Bnb and get a larger house since I travel mostly in a group. There’s paddle boarding and kayaking although I prefer to sit by the rocks with my books or kick back in a hammock and shut off reality.

Looks like a very tranquil spot. Perfect for a hammock. 🙂
Fantastic photos. Happy new week!
Nice quiet resort—apparently! So what’s the nightlife like? 🙂

I haven’t really experienced much of it. But people do know how to party here
Sounds like a resort! 🙂
